KAMPUNG BARU : THE LAST MALAY VILLAGE IN KL .

Tucked away in the middle of Kuala Lumpur’s modern skyscrapers, Kampung Baru is a hidden gem that offers a glimpse into traditional Malay village life. Established in the late 19th century, this neighborhood remains one of the last traditional Malay settlements in the city.  Walking through Kampung Baru, you’ll see wooden stilt houses, mosques, and street vendors selling local delicacies.  The area is famous for its authentic Malay food, including nasi lemak, ikan bakar (grilled fish), satay, and roti jala.

On Saturday nights, the streets come alive with a night market where visitors can buy fresh produce, street snacks, and handmade crafts.  Despite its prime location near KLCC, Kampung Baru has resisted modernization, preserving its cultural charm. For travelers looking to experience a different side of Kuala Lumpur, this historic village is a must-visit.
